Amaan Africa CERTUS project is focused on achieving SDG1, SDG4, SDG8, SDG9 and SDG17, CERTUS is an acronym that stands for Cultural Entrepreneurial Ready To Use Skills. For Africa to take its place in this digital age, youths and women have to be more involved in developing the right skills to enable them kick-start their own businesses or find their dream jobs. Amaan Africa is your skill plug for hard skills, soft skills, craftsmanship and digital skills to enable you boost your business or be more efficient at your job. Today 6th of April 2021, Amaan Africa has facilitated a 3 days workshop of 4 Internally Displaced women from the Bonamome IDP camp in Douala on 3D printing and digital wood craft at the Orange Digital Center FabLab in Akwa Douala, Cameroon.

The Orange Digital Center (ODC) FabLab has put at the disposal of the public many tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, etc., essential to digital manufacturing.

This space allows youths, women or anyone with an innovative ideas to benefit from the training program adapted to digital manufacturing by impacting necessary skills to transform these ideas to prototype.

These courses are provided free of charge by ODC experts to incubate young start ups. Types of training offered by ODC include 3D modeling and printing.

2D creation and digital fabrication, digital embroidery, electronic programming and digital wood craft.

Acquiring the sophisticated machines used to produce these craft and other 3D products is very costly and not an advisable move for a start up. Thus ODC FabLab empowers you with the skills and put the machine at your disposal to use for manufacturing. We saw the excitement and interest these women expressed during the workshop and they already have amazing projects like 3D face mask, key holders, ice cube molders and so much more. We looking forward to connecting many more youths and women to discover these amazing opportunity at the ODC FabLab and also take advantage to start businesses of their own to close the poverty gap.
