Amaan Africa is a non-profit organization based in Cameroon using EDTECH to empower Youths and Women through digital skills training, volunteering for UN SDG, and advocating for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). This holiday we are bringing African Youths and Women change makers across +18 African countries to ideate and network during our Volunteer Voices for Sustainable Development Goals (VOVO4SDG) Hackathon. Our objectives include;

-Amplify the voice of Volunteers through Graphic designs.

-Introduce Youths and Women to multiple source of income through Digital Skills for Entrepreneurship, Freelance, Advocacy and Activism.

-Create awareness about United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), AfCFTA, AUC-WYFEI2030, Africa Women in Trade and ITCecomconnect through the hackathon.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where people come together to collaborate on software development projects. The goal of a hackathon is to create a working prototype of a software project in a short period of time, typically 24 or 48 hours or longer depending on the objective of the organizers. Hackathons are often hosted by tech companies, universities, or organizations.

What do I need to bring for Amaan Africa VOVO4SDG Holiday Hackathon?

Amaan Africa Holiday Hackathon is 100% online so you need just your Smartphone or laptop. 

Who can participate during VOVO4SDG Holiday Hackathon?

Amaan Africa VOVO4SDG Holiday Hackathon is open to African Youths or Women aged 18 to 45 years old. This is the first ever Hackathon Amaan Africa will be hosting for Content Developers 100% online on Canva software.

How long will the hackathon last?

The Hackathon will last 3 weeks; 2 weeks of training because some participants do not have any knowledge about Canva software and have to be taught on how to use it, 48 hrs prototype and 48 hrs pitching.

What will happen during Amaan Africa VOVO4SDG Holiday Hackathon?

After the 2 weeks training, participants will be grouped in teams for Ideation, brainstorming, prototyping, building their free website and pitching to our partner Africa Women in Trade. Best Projects will be uploaded on Amaan Africa website for visibility.

These groups will co-create lasting solutions to community challenges inspired by UN SDG and AfCFTA.
